Steadyrack Sponsors Jack Thomson on his Munda Biddi World Record Victory

The Munda Biddi Trail – 1,067km of off-road cycling adventure stretching from Mundaring down to Albany in Southwest, Western Australia. This year, Jack Thompson, a young Perth-born cyclist, was aiming to beat the current world record in a race against a clock that never stops, embarking on an unsupported journey to conquer the whole trail in 2.5 days on November 24th - 26th. Sponsoring Jack on his world record journey is a source of immense pride for Steadyrack. We are committed to supporting his mission to create a lasting impact and encourage positive change to the community.

Jack's Story

Jack, an international professional cyclist, pedals for more than victory. He uses his global platform and own personal experiences with mental illness to advocate for mental health to create greater awareness on how we as a community can make a significant difference. Through his incredible cycling endeavours, and through numerous world records and world firsts, Jack has used his platform as a professional sports person to raise awareness for and shine a light on those suffering with mental illness.

The Munda Biddi Dreaming project attracts national exposure and allows Jack to showcase to the younger community what is possible with the right headspace and support network and that no dream is too big or too small. Steadyrack were thrilled to sponsor Jack this year in his inspirational journey to raise awareness for mental health and wellbeing.

Under challenging conditions with a heatwave sweeping through Western Australia, Jack Thomson smashed the current world record of cycling the full length of the longest continuous bike trail in the world in an impressive new record Fastest Known Time (FKT) of 2 days, 12 hours & 15 minutes. The previous record, set in 2020 at 2 days, 17 hours & 22 minutes was already an impressive result, however, adding to Jack's challenge, the modified trail is a staggering 16km longer than when the last record was set.

Jack rode through the night, keeping himself fuelled with chocolate bars and ice-cream, he navigated through rugged trail conditions, which he found himself walking long stretches and braving gusts of 60 km/h winds during the last 140 km in Albany, intensifying the already demanding nature of the event.

The level of determination and drive that Jack exhibited throughout his journey was nothing short of inspiring and we, at Steadyrack, were thrilled to follow his journey from start to finish. We encourage everyone to check out Jack’s story and achievements here.
